چکیده

Influenza is an acute respiratory disorder caused by the influenza virus and associated with prolonged hospitalization high mortality rates in older individuals chronically ill patients. Vaccination most effective preventive strategy for ameliorating seasonal influenza. However, vaccine not fully cases of antigenic mismatch viral strains circulating community. The emergence resistance to antiviral drugs aggravates situation. Therefore, developing new vaccines essential. Castanea crenata honey (CH) extensively cultivated food worldwide has been used as a nutritional supplement or herbal medicine. potential anti-influenza properties CH remain unexplored. In this study, vitro vivo effects were assessed. significantly prevented infection mouse Raw264.7 macrophages. pretreatment inhibited expression proteins M2, PA, PB1 enhanced secretion proinflammatory cytokines type-I interferon (IFN)-related . increased RIG-1, mitochondrial signaling (MAVS) protein, IFN-inducible transmembrane which interferes replication. reduced body weight loss 20.9%, survival 60%, decreased replication inflammatory response lungs A virus-infected mice. stimulates murine macrophages mice preventing through RIG-1-mediated MAVS pathway. Further investigation warranted understand molecular mechanisms involved protective on infection.

IL-15 Participates in the Respiratory Innate Immune Response to Influenza Virus Infection

Following influenza infection, natural killer (NK) cells function as interim effectors by suppressing viral replication until CD8 T cells are activated, proliferate, and are mobilized within the respiratory tract. Thus, NK cells are an important first line of defense against influenza virus. Here, in a murine model of influenza, we show that virally-induced IL-15 facilitates the trafficking of ...

The mTOR-inhibitor rapamycin mediates proteinuria in nephrotoxic serum nephritis by activating the innate immune response.

Rapamycin (Rapa) is an immunosuppressant used to prevent rejection in recipients of renal transplants. Its clinical use is limited by de novo onset or exacerbation of preexisting proteinuria. In the present study, Rapa administration was started 14 days after induction of murine nephrotoxic serum nephritis (NTS) to study glomerular effects of this mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR) inhibitor....

Dnr1 mutations cause neurodegeneration in Drosophila by activating the innate immune response in the brain.

A growing body of evidence in humans implicates chronic activation of the innate immune response in the brain as a major cause of neuropathology in various neurodegenerative conditions, although the mechanisms remain unclear. In an unbiased genetic screen for mutants exhibiting neurodegeneration in Drosophila, we have recovered a mutation of dnr1 (defense repressor 1), a negative regulator of t...

Innate Immune Response of Human Alveolar Macrophages during Influenza A Infection

Alveolar macrophages (AM) are one of the key cell types for initiating inflammatory and immune responses to influenza virus in the lung. However, the genome-wide changes in response to influenza infection in AM have not been defined. We performed gene profiling of human AM in response to H1N1 influenza A virus PR/8 using Affymetrix HG-U133 Plus 2.0 chips and verified the changes at both mRNA an...

Baculovirus induces an innate immune response and confers protection from lethal influenza virus infection in mice.

A recombinant baculovirus expressing the hemagglutinin gene of the influenza virus, A/PR/8/34 (H1N1), under the control of the chicken beta-actin promoter, was constructed. To determine the induction of protective immunity in vivo, mice were inoculated with the recombinant baculovirus by intramuscular, intradermal, i.p., and intranasal routes and then were challenged with a lethal dose of the i...
